Arc’teryx Climbing Weekend
This November, Arc’teryx is inviting 25 new and experienced climbers, to spend a weekend on the magnificent natural rock walls in the Grampians. Keen to learn new skills, work on your technique and make a bunch of new mates? We bet you are!
Scaling cliffs up to 25m high, climbs will range from super accessible grade 6, right up to the real tricky stuff of grade 23. All climbs will be facilitated by qualified guides from local climbing group Hangin’ Out.
Climbers will learn all the lingo, why good communication is so important on the wall, what equipment is needed and basic crag safety. There’s plenty of physical skills to learn too, like correct belay technique, knot tying and how to physically and mentally coach other climbers.
There’ll be a major emphasis on good climbing practice, especially because of the weekend’s location in the Grampians. Known as Djub Wurrung and the Jardwajarli in the local Aboriginal language, the region holds important ecological and cultural significance.
We are Explorers, Arc’teryx and Hangin’ Out, would like to acknowledge that this event is being held on the traditional lands of the Djub Wurrung and the Jardwajarli people. The group will be climbing in an area that has been permitted by the Traditional Owners to rock climb and we thank them for their permission for us to climb on their Country. We pay respects to their elders, both past and present.
The weekend will involve a cultural awareness talk and we have invited the Traditional Owners to join us.
The trip includes accommodation at the YHA, meals, transport to and from the crag as well as the cost of guides, to make sure you’re 100% safe and secure at all times. All you have to do is rock up on Friday night and we’ll handle the rest! How’s that for a rad weekend away without the stress?
